From John Barrow to Luis Enrique Martínez
There have been a total of 53 FC Barcelona coaches throughout the history of the club and the first in this long line of managers was Englishman John Barrow, who directed 19 games in 1917.
Until then, it was the FC Barcelona President and board of directors who decided on the squad whilst the team captains determined the starting line-up for each game.
Training sessions were not taken particularly seriously in those days, certainly in comparison with today, because the game was still amateur.
The coach who has been longest at the club is Johan Cruyff, who directed the first team for eight consecutive seasons between 1988 and 1996 with a total of 602 games.
The second is Englishman Jack Greenwell, who directed 492 games in two periods, from 1917-24 and 1931-33 whilst third comes Dutchman Rinus Michels, who also directed
the first team in two periods from 1971-75 and 1976-78 for a total of 361 matches.
Pep Guardiola went down in history as the first coach to win the triple of Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League in his first season as FC Barcelona manager.
The current coach is former player Luis Enrique Martínez, who took over the job at the start of the 2014-15 season.
