Platja de la Nova Mar Bella
Separated from neighbouring Mar Bella Beach by the Bac de Roda breakwater, the golden sands of Nova Mar Bella Beach stretch as far as the Llevant Beach, which is a distance of some 500 metres.
Like all the beaches in the District of Sant Martí, Nova Mar Bella came about as a result of the cleaning up of the Barcelona Beaches and demolition of the disused factories that separated the city from its seafront in preparation for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
As this section of the beach is located between the neighbourhoods of El Poblenou and Diagonal Mar it tends to be less frequented so if you want to get far from the madding crowds, this is the beach for you.
There are a couple of xiringuitos or beach bars and the cheaper bars and restaurants of El Poblenou are within walking distance as are the metro stations at Selva de Mar and El Maresme|Fòrum.
Obviously, this is a modern beach with lifeguard services, showers and public access and is also one of the best beaches in Barcelona regarding disabled access.
