RCD Espanyol’s Power8 Stadium
Located between the towns of Cornellà and El Prat in the comarca of Baix Llobregat just south of Barcelona, the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat has been home to RCD Espanyol since it opened in 2009.
The all-seater stadium has been catgorised as 4-Star by UEFA and has capacity for 40,000 spectators, with the possibility of a future increase in size.
Apart from the pitch and the corners, the whole stadium is covered, and in 2010 was granted The Stadium Business Award as the best sports facility of the year.
Following the closure of their traditional home at the Estadi de Sarrià in 1997, RCD Espanyol had spent over a decade at the rather dissatisfactory Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc, which wasn’t own by the club but by Barcelona City Council so the fans in particular were very pleased to get a stadium of their own.
In July 2014, the stadium was renamed as Power8 Stadium following a sponsorship deal with the gaming technology firm of the same name.
