Bogatell Beach

Separated from neighbouring Nova Icaria Beach by the Bogatell breakwater, the golden sands of Bogatell Beach stretch as far as Mar Bella Beach, which is a distance of some 640 metres.

Like all the beaches in the District of Sant Martí, Bogatell came about as a result of the cleaning up of the Barcelona Beaches and demolition of the disused factories that separated the city from its seafront in preparation for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Along with Mar Bella Beach, Bogatell is one of the most central and popular sections of this relatively new stretch of Barcelona seafront and is backed by the neighbourhood of El Poblenou with its lovely Rambla, lined with bars and restaurants.

Bogatell Beach has a number of xiringuitos or beach bars and its proximity to El Poblenou means that it is easy to get a drink or something to eat at regular prices.

This is a well-equipped modern beach with lifeguard service, showers and public toilets and there are sports, games and aquatic activities available here.

The beach also has a cycle track behind it and is very popular with skateboarders.
