The Barcelona tram system consists of six lines divided in two networks – Trambaix and Trambesòs.

The Trambaix network comprises lines T1, T2 and T3 and connects Plaça Francesc Macià with towns to the south of Barcelona, such as  L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern i Sant Feliu de Llobregat

Trambesòs connects Glòries with the coast north of Barcelona with lines T4 and T6 going to Sant Adrià de Besòs and T5 going to Badalona.

There are plans to connect the Trambaix and Trambesòs networks by building a new line along Avinguda Diagonal.

The tram network is operated by Tramvia Metropolità, SA better known as TramMet, and forms part of the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport system – TMB – so regular tickets are valid from Barcelona tram journeys.

At the time of writing, a single journey in Zone 1 will cost €2 and a ten-journey T10 ticket will cost €9.95.

An excellent option for a tourist spending a few days in Barcelona is a 2-Day, 3-Day or 4-Day Barcelona Card, which not only includes tram, metro, bus and local train journeys but also free or discount entrance to many of Barcelona’s most popular sights.
